And he says: "Hi Brian, It was good of John Henderson to ask for some more information on my Guy, so here goes! The truck was one of the last Guys built, and was completed in 1978. All of the very last Big J's were 4 wheel tractors built to the same specification as mine; Gardner 6LXB 180 engine, Fuller Roadranger 9-speed gearbox, and Guy's own hub reduction rear axle.

"My lorry was bought new by Fordhouses Transport  near Wolverhampton, but they stood the vehicle up rather than registering it."

"Fordhouses subsequently ceased trading and the Guy was bought by Thomas Ingles Transport of Wolverhampton. They registered the truck in 1985 (hence the "B" plate), fitted the sleeper conversion, and used it until 1989 when they too ceased trading.

"I've attached a photo of the Guy whilst in the Ingles fleet.The photo was taken by a friend of mine, David Townsend who was a Guy designer, and also took works photos when the official photographer was unavailable. There was also a "Truck and Driver" feature on the lorry in September 1986.

"The next owner was Jim Horn of Bo'ness near Grangemouth, who used the lorry in his business, even venturing down to Portugal in it, and he sold it to me back in 1992.

"I've shown the Guy all over Britain, venturing North of the Border and down to Bournemouth, but in recent years I've only down a couple of shows a year. Cheers, Richard."
