Modelled on its speed dating counterpart, the CILT (UK) speed mentoring event was designed to facilitate discussion of potential solutions to career issues by matching volunteer mentors with delegates in a tightly controlled environment, enabling time with each mentor.

Delegates met mentors in small groups and time slots were limited to ten minutes with the opportunity for further discussion to continue over lunch.

Mentors were asked to set the scene with the delegates and then identify the main issue, which might be industry-specific, or a more generic management issue. They then provided feedback drawing on their own experience.
