Dunns Opt For Fraikin Dual-Temperature Solution

Document Actions
Glasgow-based Dunns Food & Drink Ltd is taking delivery of six new trucks from Fraikin on full service contract hire, to help meet increased demand from licensed establishments which are featuring food more widely as a result of the smoking ban.
The new five year contract will see Fraikin providing six Isuzu NQR 7.5 tonne trucks, each fitted with the first dual compartment temperature controlled bodies in the fleet – manufactured locally by Tekbo.  They are expected to cover around 35,000 miles per year, transporting goods for the food services division – Duncans Food Services.  Products will include beers, wines, soft drinks, dry, ambient and frozen goods throughout Scotland.

“We have worked with Fraikin for seven years, and chose to renew based on the reliable service they provide,” says Operations Director Julie Dunn.  “The benefits of contract hire with Fraikin is that they take our Operator’s Licence requirements as seriously as we do.  Therefore, the vehicle maintenance schedules are strictly adhered to, paperwork is always on time and replacement vehicles are available as required.

“Fraikin’s detailed vehicle records have enabled us to jointly analyse our needs based on past usage and projected future activities.  The advice given on payload, fuel consumption, bodywork and refrigeration systems promises both time and cost savings,” she adds.

The new vehicles will be based at the main Blantyre depot, with one additional vehicle from Fraikin to be located at the company’s depot on Islay.  All of the new trucks will display Duncans Food Services’ freshly unveiled corporate identity.

Fraikin’s branch in Bellshill is situated just 10 minutes from Blantyre and will be responsible for servicing and repairing the vehicles throughout their life on the fleet.
