Boxers Bloom in Eastbourne's Parks

Document Actions
Six Peugeot Boxer 335 120 Chassis Cabs fitted with aluminium drop-side tipper bodies have been drafted in to keep the parks and gardens of Eastbourne in tip-top condition.
The Boxer vans, supplied to Wyevale Grounds Maintenance by Peugeot Robins and Day, Cribbs Causeway, form part of an £800,000 contract won by the company to provide grounds maintenance services to Eastbourne Council.  One of the key stipulations supporting the win was that they had to be all-new vehicles to benefit from being the most efficient, economical and environmentally friendly while demonstrating the investment being made in this initiative; the Boxer Chassis Cabs are the first instalment of this investment.

The six medium wheel-base Peugeot Boxers will transport the majority of Eastbourne’s Parks and Grounds Maintenance equipment and its crew around the Borough tending to areas such as the prestigious Carpet Gardens on Eastbourne’s seafront.  Peugeot’s Boxer chassis fulfilled this requirement by providing a comprehensive value proposition combining high build quality, dependability, economy from its HDi diesel engines while being both safe and highly capable.

During the tender, the Council placed an emphasis on value-for-money and the environmental impact of its fleet.  Reliability and efficiency was also a key consideration for Wyevale as its contract with Eastbourne will cover service delivery for the borough over the next 10 years.

Tim Brewster, Wyevale’s Area Contracts Manager, said: “Eastbourne Council provided an extensive tender for us to respond to.  We conducted broad research to provide the correct vehicles to meet its requirements.  For the Parks and Gardens area, the Boxer Chassis conversion is perfect.  It is practical and dependable, and for the drivers, it has a high quality interior and specification providing car-like features, not available on many Light Commercial Vehicles.”

Ed Slattery, General Manager at Robins and Day Cribbs Causeway added, “We were able to provide Wyevale with a specialised vehicle to meet a specific brief, assisting them in securing a lucrative contract.  With the wide range of Peugeot LCVs on offer, and the variety of conversions we can provide, our team has the resources to meet the most complicated of briefs.”

A spokesperson from Eastbourne Borough Council said, “Eastbourne is looking forward to the injection of new vehicles over the duration of Wyevale’s contract, starting with the Peugeot Boxer vehicles.  Parks and Gardens maintenance is vital to the local area, and introducing a brand-new range of clean, advanced vehicles is the first step in demonstrating our investment in this area.”
