WTD

No its not true, the WTD is now law like it or lump it. The WTD is there to help the truck driver not to limit what he (or she) can earn, its the best chance you drivers have ever had of getting more time off without losing any money, but most of you are burying your heads in the sand. I have been in the industry for more than thirty years and we have a history of working long hours for very little reward. If all drivers refuse to work more than 48 hours then the employers will have to do something to keep the drivers. Its about time the likes of Tesco's, Sainsbury's and all the other retailers used some of their vast profits to pay the logistic firms decent rates, these can then be past on to the drivers. How many of you out there work six days a week just to earn a decent wage. We should work like the Italians do, no weekend working.Give the truck driver his LIFE back.

I would like to say to Brian that he is wrong. We as a household are actually losing money with the WTD and our family life is worse off. I work in the hotel industry and i'm having to do more hours at weekends and evenings so our family life is suffering all the time. What has happened to freedom of choice and speech. If people don't want to put the hours in then that should be up to them and if people want to work the extra hours to support their family that should be up to them aswell.
